The Adirondacks’ peak is passing — but the color is coming home. This week’s I LOVE NY foliage report (October 7–13) puts the Thousand Islands-Seaway region at near peak, with the Thousand Islands Bridge at Alexandria Bay showing 80% color change in a brilliant, full mix of fall colors.
Where the color is right now
- Alexandria Bay (Thousand Islands Bridge): 80%, near peak
- Potsdam: 75%, near peak, a bright fall palette
- Eisenhower Lock, Massena: 75%, near peak — mostly yellow and orange, with wisps of red and purple
- Pulaski: 55%; Oswego: 40% — still building, an orange, red, and purple medley
The takeaway: while the High Peaks slide past peak, the river towns are hitting their stride. If you sat out the Adirondacks crowds, this is your weekend — the color is close to home.
Make a day of it: the Antique Boat Museum’s Small Craft Festival runs Saturday 10am–5pm in Clayton — sail, row, and paddle historic small craft, then catch the color on the river drives home.
