Clayton Scarecrow Contest

The Clayton Chamber of Commerce’s annual Scarecrow Decorating Contest turns downtown Clayton into an open-air scarecrow gallery each fall — local businesses and residents build creative scarecrows that the Village DPW places along James Street and Riverside Drive for everyone to enjoy. It’s a festive, free fall tradition that’s fun for the whole family.

Public voting runs October 13–28, and the contest is free to view — just stroll downtown Clayton and pick your favorites. Scarecrow posts are available starting September 25 at the Clayton Chamber office (517 Riverside Dr) for anyone who wants to enter.
